I began my doctoral studies in July 2025 with a foundation in electrocatylytic water splitting by using transition metal sulphides and focuses on the pursuit of sustainable energy solutions has spotlighted electrocatalytic water splitting as a clean and scalable method for hydrogen production. This process involves two half-reactions: the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Traditional catalysts such as platinum (Pt) and iridium oxide (IrO₂) exhibit excellent activity but are expensive and scarce. Consequently, transition metal sulfides (TMSs) including sulfides of molybdenum, cobalt, nickel, and iron are being extensively investigated as cost-effective, earth-abundant alternatives.
